>> I don't know that there's
anything specific before I came
in to the business.
Something that was told to me a
couple of years into my business
that became very important
was to stay focused,
be it on one aspect or one
angle of your business.
And try not to branch out
to maybe have your hands
in too many jars at one time.
>> Skills in finding the right
person for the right job.
And in the past whenever
we found someone
with the right fit things
click so well, you know,
the vision flows really
well, and, you know,
I have a little bit
less stress in my life.
And when we hire somebody who
doesn't have that good a fit,
things are a lot more stressful.
>> Invest in yourself.
And that's what I know now.
Invest in myself as far
as create a balanced life,
education, read, and
seek for a mentor.
All those little things is just
not as much in the business,
but in myself as being
a CEO with the company.
>> Obviously as an entrepreneur
it is a learning process.
You're learning something
new everyday.
And having a resource, similar
to the one that they have today
with the Center, would have
been a great resource to have
as I was starting
my own business.
To learn from other
entrepreneurs, I think,
is a tremendous value.
>> I wish I had known
that I would be,
I would like to know
every part of my business.
When I graduated with
a degree in business
and in finance I thought, oh,
all I'll be doing is just the
books, and keeping, you know,
taking care of the accounting
part of the business.
However, as my husband, we
are a family owned business,
and so as my husband travels
over seas more and more I have
to get involved in
engineering aspect,
in the manufacturing
aspect, in the HR.
So you're wearing a
lot of different hats.
And that's one part that
I really did not think
that I would fill
in all those roles.
But as an entrepreneur
I realized that you need
to know a little bit about
your company at any given time.
>> Not to take a
detour from your dream.
Take your passion,
do different hurdles
that it requires,
and just go for it.
And that's the one thing
that people would say, oh no,
no, you can't do this.
No you can't do this.
And I'm like, sure I can.
>> Going in I was always, you
know, kind of hope for the best,
but plan for the worst.
You know, everyone
says, oh, you know, two,
three years without
making any money.
You know, so we had
pretty pessimistic numbers.
For me personally I wish we
would have planned a little
better for things going
better, but it's been great.
Like I'm not complaining
at all for the growth.
But, you know, just to have,
you know, have both plans,
ones that pessimistic and
optimistic numbers going in
and you'd be better prepared.
>> Know what resources are
available to you that are low
to no cost, like
the universities,
like some of the
SCORE's, the SBDC's,
and then other businesses
that have really succeeded
in my line of work.
Tapping into their wisdom
and their knowledge.
Investing time in
those relationships,
cause they're already
made the mistakes,
they know the shortcuts.
I figured that our
along the way, you know,
but I wish someone at the very
beginning would have said,
if you do these things first,
build these relationships,
and have a repository
of resources to help you
when you get started, it
would have been helpful.
